Fundraising Event Case Study: Designing Gracepoint Foundation’s Mental Health Superheroes Gala

Gracepoint Foundation is the fundraising arm of Gracepoint Wellness* a nonprofit behavioral health organization based in Tampa, Florida. Each year, the Foundation hosts its signature fundraising event to celebrate local champions of mental health awareness and raise support for critical community programs.

For the 2025 gala, held on May 21, 2025, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, the Foundation wanted to lean into a fun and empowering theme: superheroes.

Hum & Flow was brought in to create the event’s visual identity and supporting materials—from digital invitations to printed programs—striking the perfect balance between playful and sophisticated.

Project Objectives

The goal was to bring the superhero theme to life in a way that felt creative and cohesive, while maintaining the elegance and professionalism expected from a high-level fundraising event. Working closely with Gracepoint’s fundraising leadership team, we explored how to use classic comic book imagery and cinematic cues to:

  • Engage attendees and sponsors before, during, and after the event
  • Recognize special guests and major donors in memorable ways
  • Create a visually unified experience across print, digital, and environmental materials

Deliverables

Hum & Flow created a complete suite of branded materials to support the event, including:

  • Digital Save-the-Date
  • Print and Digital Invitation Suite
  • Social Media Promotional Graphics
  • Sponsorship Sell Sheet
  • On-Site Event Signage
  • Comic Book–Themed Program Book

All elements worked together to create a unified look and feel, ensuring that every touchpoint—digital or physical—told part of the same story.

The Creative Process

Our process began with mood boards featuring vintage comic book covers, retro movie posters, and classic superhero imagery. We used these to establish a creative direction that blended nostalgic charm with modern polish.

Early explorations experimented with different visual approaches before we locked in on the central concept: a Tampa city skyline at night illuminated by a bright spotlight projecting the Gracepoint logo into the sky—a nod to the iconic Bat-Signal. The tagline “Calling All Heroes” was introduced as the event’s rallying cry, debuting on a save-the-date designed to evoke a teaser poster for a superhero film.

Throughout the design process, we worked carefully to ensure that the aesthetic stayed elevated—avoiding anything overly cartoonish while keeping the energy fun, dynamic, and unmistakably superheroic.

“Hum & Flow has been an indispensable extension of our team and our organization’s branding and revenue development efforts. Our partnership and Hum & Flow’s talent are an absolute value-add to our organization.”

The Program Book

One of the standout pieces from the project was the event program book, designed as a full homage to classic comic books. The booklet mimicked the format of a traditional comic, complete with:

  • Multi-panel page layouts
  • Pop-style callouts and sponsor highlights
  • Rich halftone textures
  • Bold typography inspired by retro comic headlines

The program struck the perfect balance between thematic and refined, giving guests something both functional and collectible to take home.

Super-powered Results

The 2025 Mental Health Superheroes Gala was a tremendous success. The event raised over $175,000, directly supporting Gracepoint Foundation’s mission to build a stronger, more resilient community through access to mental health care and essential wellness services.

Guests, donors, and community leaders praised the event’s cohesive creative direction—its blend of sophistication and playfulness helped set the perfect tone for the evening. The visual identity carried through every element of the experience, from the digital invitations to the comic book–style program book, creating a memorable and engaging atmosphere that celebrated the heroes making an impact in mental health.

By pairing a clear visual story with a powerful cause, the event reinforced the Foundation’s role as a driving force in improving community wellness across Tampa Bay and beyond.
